7 Good Reasons to Meditate - By Elaine Clark

  • To reduce stress: Stress is caused by a conflict between ego desires. Meditation allows us to see beyond what we think we need.
  • To fulfill your desire for peace. Going into stillness is how we get in touch with peace.
  • To give up bad habits. Bad habits or addictions are coping mechanisms to manage stress – without stress we can easily stop the bad habits.
  • To become more intuitive, and creative. This is where we are able to listen to the quiet voice of love.

  • To reconnect you to spirit. When we experience the absence of ego thought we remember what we truly are,  and experience a higher state of consciousness. 
  • To sleep better, and reduce fatigue. The surrender and acceptance allows for real energizing rest.
  • To improve concentration. Meditation is learning to focus, and therefore eases the way to full presence.

How to do it!
Start by finding a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
Close your eyes and count your breaths backward from 28. So “breathing in 28, breathing out 28 breathing in 27, breathing out 27” etc.
If you lose count go back to 28 and start again.
​Be patient - it is not a contest. Your mind will come up with a lot of resistance in the beginning. However, if you are persistent and learn to meditate for a short time every day it will get easier to increase that time.
