“Intolerance in the 23rd century? Improbable!...If man survives that long, he will have learned to take a delight in the essential differences between men and between cultures.” ~ Gene Roddenbury (Star Trek creator)
I love Star Trek because, while it aired as a futuristic sci-fi show about space travel and the discovery of new worlds and life forms, it really was a show about the exploration of humanity and the potentialities that exist within us today. While Gene’s 23rd century utopian society may seem unrealistic given our current times, now, more than ever, we must ‘reach for the stars’ towards our inner resources of reason, compassion, and diplomacy; to “take delight in our differences”, while promoting our fundamental connections. Love, Dave
