“Do not seek the because - in love there is no because, no reason, no explanation, no solutions.” ~ Anais Nin
“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” ~ Marcel Proust
I can already hear some of you saying, “Nobody can make me happy! Happiness comes from within.” But if, as Poonja and other non-dualist teachers would attest to, all is Self, then the relationships and sense of connection I feel with others is symbolic of a process of opening up to life--which is none other than an extension of You...so There ;)
"The afternoon knows what the morning never suspected." ~ Robert Frost
My 'morning' was a lengthy and thorough preparation for my afternoon, not to mention my evening. Twenty years ago I had absolutely no idea my life would be anything like what I am experiencing now. What will the night be like? I am grateful!
"I will not serve God like a labourer, in expectation of my wages." ~ Idries Shaw
Serving 'God like a labourer' implies inequality. Only in Oneness can I genuinely and joyfuly serve. The wages are inherent in the serving, not as a reward, earned at great cost to myself, at some later stage.
“God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say thank you?” ~ William Arthur Ward
When illustrated like this, unlike other feel-good activities that I may deny myself, such as a gym workout, meditation class, or hang-out with a friend, it becomes hard to rationalize away this simple ‘task’ due to a scheduling conflict. Don’t worry though...you’ll thank yourself later for it.
"Accept the children the way we accept trees—with gratitude, because they are a blessing—but do not have expectations or desires. You don’t expect trees to change, you love them as they are." ~ Isabel Allende
Ahh, to see the little people like that .... and in seeing them like that learning to joyfully accept the Self.
