Being afraid of the dark is consistent with my self-made identity. Fear of the dark validates my belief in weakness; my belief in victim hood; my belief in being powerless; my belief that I am never safe. The light threatens that identity at its core. Shine the Light on my persistent insanity and it vanishes. Today might be a good day to do so....
